Let the light shine in

Thinking of new ideas for the apartement. I love how Pottery Barn mixes modern and antique styles...

How whimsical is this lamp?!?

I want these for a bbq to hold the cutlery and napkins

Can work as outdoor lighting or in door decoration

New project: find bells at flea markets and make this!

I have loved this lamp for awhile but the base is really wide so its hard to fit is my tiny apartement. Still adore it, someday...

Giving Me The Cold Shoulder

One shouldered dresses are popping up all over... a big trend for fall no doubt. These from netaporter are a bit (a lot) out of my price range but I'll be keeping an eye out for one that fits my budget.

At Home Clarifying Shampoo

This recipe makes a quick clarifying rinse.

  • Ingredients: one egg, juice from ½ a lemon, 1 cup of regular shampoo, ¾ cup of water, 1 teaspoon of oil.
  • Wisk together and then use immediately in place of your regular shampoo. Condition as you normally would.
  • The lemon is what does most of the work here while the egg and oil protect and strengthen. Adjust the amount of lemon as you need. I don’t color my hair but use a lot of silicone products so I up the lemon to really get rid of any build up. It leaves your hair feeling really clean and soft!

Empire Lounge

Banana wrap-shirt worn as vest, hanes wife beater, bird neckalce thrifted, lucky jeans, sm platforms.
Fantastic restaurant in a great little town just outside of Boulder. Louisville had been voted one of the best towns in the US and Empire will be featured in an upcomming news bio.

Summer Cocktails

Summer is the perefect time for crisp refresing drinks. Here are a few of my favorites

Izze Splash

Super simple and soo light and bright. Take Izze juice drink and mix it with your favorite liquor over ice. I prefer the blackberry with vodka. If you've never had Izze before check it out! Its sparkling water and fruit juice in a bunch of great flavors. http://www.izze.com/

Hop Skip and Go Nakeds

These sound a little wacky but are amazing, great for an outdoor movie or bbq. My friend Andy introduced me and its definitely worth a try. The ingredients are pink lemonade, vodka and wheat style beer (or at least light in color and flavor). Take equal parts of beer and lemonade anf then add vodka to taste about one shot per 10oz of the beer lemonade mix. Mix and serve over ice. Adjust this one to your personal preference some lemonade for sweetness for instance, sample frequently as you make!

Cranberry Granita

I adapted this one awhile ago from a food network show. Its a great light dessert as well as a cocktail. This makes enough for about 8-10 servings. Take three cups cranberry juice in a sauce pan with 1/2 cup sugar. Heat slowly untill disolved. Cool and add just over a 1/3 cup of each vodka and fresh lime juice (about two large limes). Mix in a shallow dish or casserole pan. Freeze for two hours. Use a fork to flake the icy mixure into crystals, refreeze. Repeat every few hours untill fully frozen (about 5 hours total). Serve in small bowls with mint leaves or lime wedges for garnish.

Enjoy! xoxo Jilly

Hop, Skip or Jumper?

The Jumper trend has intrigued me long enough that I can say its not just a fleeting interest. However I'm still not sure it's really doable. To say I still struggled to see myslef just waltzing around town in my one piece. The lovely ladies below seem to prove it can be done, achieving some very diffrent looks.

I especially like Eva Longoria's nude number. The rolled cuffs ddress it down and the bright purse adds a pop of color. I'd probobly do the same with bright platforms.

Having seen these examples I went in search of a jumper for myself. On the more casual side, like Blake Lively's look I found these. I'd pair them with cute flip flops and a big canvas tote for a hot day of running around at the farmer's market.
These Two are both from alloy, under $40.

For a dressier night out option I like the jumpers below, all from Urban, at $75 plus. The grey with the rolled shorts begs for some tall platforms and chunky jewery while the nude is very lingerie inspired and needs simple touches, maybe some metalic falts and a couple bangles.

Hmmm decisions, decisions…
